A common question regarding fire alarms is “Why is my fire alarm beeping?”

The most common cause of this is that smoke or fire alarms begin to intermittently “chirp” to indicate when the battery is getting low. The NFPA recommends that you test your smoke alarms once a month, following the manufacturer's instructions and replace the batteries in your smoke alarm once a year.
