What Happens When You Set Off Your Own Intrusion or Fire Alarm?
November 27, 2012
Since it doesn’t happen every day, we know it is enough to get the adrenaline pumping – but the key is to stay calm.
Once you have set off the alarm, there will be plenty of loud beeping noises coming from the system, and your phone will ring. The phone call is from Central Station, and they will be very curt with you when asking you to verify your pass code. This word they are asking you for is NOT the numbers you press on your keypad, but the "safe word" that was created to verify your identity with them. The next step is clearing the alarm from the system. The person calling from Central Station cannot do this for you. To clear the alarm from the system, press your 4-digit code into your keypad just as you would when you are entering the building to disarm the alarm. This will clear the code and return your alarm to a ready-to-arm status.
Backing up the data for your access control system can save you hours of work and reduce system downtime.
