"Zone Faulted" Security Notice Explained
August 23, 2011
This notice showing up on your security system keypad is not necessarily a bad thing.
The "Zone Faulted" notice can appear frequently and often goes unnoticed by system owners. If you happen to see the notice on your keypad, it simply means that the system has detected motion or an opened door. During that time, it will not allow you to arm the system as it is trying to prevent a false alarm. If you see the "Zone Faulted" notice – and there isn’t anybody else in the building – check to see if there are windows open or fans blowing things around that created motion, or possibly a door wasn’t shut tightly and has blown open.
