Access Control: Back Up My What?

November 11, 2014

Backing up the data for your access control system can save you hours of work and reduce system downtime.

Many people say that the daylight savings change is the best time to check your smoke and CO detectors, which is a great idea! We recommend you add another item to your list if you haven’t already: backing up your access control database. It is easy to forget to do this, so adding it to your ’time change’ to-do list is a great idea. This is a simple process that ensures that if the worst should happen (for example, due to hard drive failure, fire, etc.), you will have a backup database less than six months old. We have seen companies who forgot to make backups, and sadly had the worst case happen to them, and they had to spend hours upon hours rebuilding their databases from scratch. We hope the worst never happens to you, but if it does, we hope this Lappen Tip prompts you to be well prepared with recent backups. Contact Lappen for more information about backups or other ways to best maintain your security system.
